Film title and details: King Klunk (1933)
  Film stills: Man's Genesis (1912)

This King Kong satire is an episode from a cartoon series about a happy-go-lucky dog created by cartoonist Walter Lantz. In this adventure, Pooch the Pup goes to Africa with his girlfriend to make a movie about a giant gorilla, King Klunk. The cartoon proceeds much like the King Kong feature film as King Klunk attacks a native village and fights with a dinosaur before eventually plummeting from atop the Empire State Building. Coming only six months after the release of King Kong, King Klunk lampoons not only the feature film but also the popularity of ethnographic adventure films like those of King Kong directors Merian C Cooper and Ernest B Shoesdsack.
