| Mighty Peking Man is Hong Kong’s take on King Kong — an adventure-romance spectacular! Peking Man, the name given to skeletal Homo erectus remains found near Beijing in 1929, is brought to life in the film as the giant Ah Wang (the film’s Kong character). Sleazy Hong Kong promoter Mr Lu commissions handsome hero Chen Zhengfeng (Danny Lee) to help him track down Ah Wang, a mythical ape-like monster roaming the jungles of India. The hero is nabbed by the beast, then rescued by jungle waif Ah Wei (Swiss bombshell Evelyne Kraft). A series of fantastically kitsch romance sequences portray Chen Zhengfeng and Ah Wei’s ensuing romance. The jungle idyll can’t last forever, and once back in downtown Hong Kong, Ah Wang’s inevitable onslaught in the city begins.
